Various scholarships for Nursing and Allied Health students become available throughout the academic year. Updated information and applications can be accessed from this page.

2012–2013 Scholarships

Alexa J. Boyer Emerick Nursing Scholarship

Eligibility requirements:

  • Outstanding and deserving junior and/or senior student in the Nursing program
  • Maintenance of a 3.0 GPA in the Nursing program
  • Demonstrated participation in school and/or community activities

The projected scholarship amount is $460, and is renewable. Selection will be made in the Fall semester by the Enrollment Enhancement Committee, and is subject to faculty approval. 

Eleanor Bosnik Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility requirements:

  • Incoming freshman who graduated from Port Allegheny High School
  • Declared major in the health professions
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Demonstrated good character, good citizenship, and has good moral standing

The projected scholarship amount is $990. Selection will be made in the Spring semester.

Ella Seanor Leadership Award

Eligibility requirements:

  • A graduating senior in the Department of Nursing with high standards of professional nursing
  • Demonstrated leadership and service within the graduating class

The projected award amount is $245. Selection will be made in the Fall semester by the Enrollment Enhancement Committee, and is subject to faculty approval. 

Gorman Scholarship

Eligibility requirements:

  • Enrollment as a full-time student in either Nursing or Allied Health
  • Good academic standing in Nursing or Allied Health program
  • Demonstrated self-reliance, maturity, and flexibility
  • Preference for this scholarship will go to those with financial need

The projected award amount is $410. Selection will be made in the Fall semester by the Enrollment Enhancement Committee, and is subject to faculty approval. 

Indiana Lion's Club Humanitarian Award

Eligibility requirements:

  • Senior standing
  • Community service
  • Demonstration of Clinical Caring Attributes: skill, compassion, understanding, humanitarianism, accountability, and professionalism.

The projected award amount is $500. Selection will be made in the Spring semester.

Kay Staszkiewicz Memorial Scholarship

The projected scholarship amount is $450. Selection will be made in the Fall semester by the Enrollment Enhancement Committee, and is subject to faculty approval. For more information, contact Dr. Julie Greenawalt.

Kuzneski Family Scholarship

Eligibility requirements:

  • Incoming freshman student, with preference to a graduate from Indiana County High School
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Declared major in Nursing, Art, or participation in intercollegiate football.

The projected scholarship amount is $1,070. Selection will be made in the Spring semester. For more information, contact Dr. Julie Greenawalt.

DEADLINE EXTENDED TO APRIL 11, 2013.

Marian A. Murray Scholarship

Eligibility requirements:

  • Graduate student
  • Be involved in activities beyond practice
  • Have active membership in professional organizations
  • Demonstrate involvement in research, presentations, and/or service
  • Have a good QPA
  • A written essay describing your goals as well as career and professional involvement.

The projected scholarship amount is $320. Selection will be made in the Spring semester.

Mary Agnes Powers Scholarship

Eligibility requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Nursing program
  • Reside in Allegheny, Washington or Westmoreland counties
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA
  • Complete application
  • Deadline: March 31, 2013

Funding is for the final year of the students' nursing program (2013-2014 academic year).

Michelle A. Campbell Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility requirements:

  • 2.75 GPA or higher
  • Graduated from any Elk County, Pa., high school
  • Enrolled as a second year or higher nursing student
  • Past recipients are eligible for re-application

All scholarship applications must be received no later than April 1, 2013. There are no exceptions. The Scholarship Selection Committee, appointed by the Board of trustees of the Elk County Community Foundation, will select the scholarship recipient. PASSHE Momentum, Inc. Healthcare Scholarship

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must be a full-time student
  • Junior or senior standing
  • Major in a healthcare related field
  • Maintenance of a 3.0 GPA
  • Student must reside in one of the following counties: Cumberland, Dauphin, York, Franklin, Juniata, Miflin, or Perry

The projected scholarship amount is $1,000. Selection will be made in the Fall semester. For more information, contact Eilieen Showers.

PHN Charitable Foundation Nursing Scholarship

Eligibility requirements:

  • Enrollment in LPN-BSN or RN-BSN program
  • GPA of 3.0 if an incoming freshman, or good academic standing if upperclassman
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Essay
  • Preference will be given to students from Indiana, Butler, Beaver, Lawrence, Cambria, Clarion, Crawford, or Mercer counties.
  • Second preference will be given to students from any county within Western Pennsylvania.

The projected scholarship amount is $1,000. For more information, contact Sharon Michny.

Pocket Nurse Scholarship

These scholarships are provided from Pocket Nurse®, a nurse-owned and -operated company. The company has established a Scholarship Trust Fund whose monies are dedicated to assisting qualified applicants to pursue their education. Three (3) scholarships will be awarded annually. One (1) scholarship to be awarded to applicants in each of the following fields: Allied Health, Nursing, and Nursing Faculty.

Allied Health:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited allied health program
  • Provide most recent high school or allied health transcripts, demonstrating a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Nursing:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program
  • Provide most recent high school or nursing program transcripts, demonstrating a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Nursing Faculty:

  • Currently enrolled in nursing graduate program
  • Provide most recent undergraduate program transcripts, demonstrating a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Susan Spurlin Peckman Scholarship

Eligibility requirements:

  • Currently an incoming freshman
  • QPA of at least 3.0
  • Brief essay describing character and career goals
  • Preference will be given to students from Indiana, Marion Center or Woodland Hills
  • Select upperclassmen may be chosen from the above schools
  • If there are still no students, 2 scholarships may be given next year.

The projected scholarship amount is $480, and will be decided in the Spring semester.

  9. Pauline Thompson Nursing Education Scholarship — This award is open to nursing students in an accredited baccalaureate, associate degree or RN-to-BSN completion program.

    Pauline Thompson Clinical Nursing Research Award — This award is open to applicants who have a research interest focused on a clinical nursing topic, which directly affects patient/client care.
