More than 800 students participated in IUP’s graduate and undergraduate Commencement ceremonies on December 20, 2009.

The undergraduate ceremony included the presentation of an honorary Doctor of Laws degree to Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Gerald Zahorchak, who presented the undergraduate commencement address. Zahorchak, formerly of Johnstown, received a Master of Education degree from IUP in 1988.
