IUP hosted students from Pittsburgh’s Lincoln Elementary School as part of the IUP Promise Plus initiative.

Promise Plus

This project is funded by $160,000 grant from the Heinz Endowments of Pittsburgh. The Promise Plus aims to expand the impact of the Pittsburgh Promise—a program designed to help all students in Pittsburgh Public Schools plan, prepare, and pay for education beyond high school at an accredited post-secondary institution within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This visit is part of IUP’s The Promise Plus intention to have early contact with students and support in the early grades, including creation of mentorship pairs of IUP students with sixth and seventh graders.  As part of the IUP visit, the students toured the IUP television studio, the radio station, the Northern Suites, and the Memorial Fieldhouse with their IUP mentors.
