Holiday Tree Decorating Contest

Celebrating the Season

IUP’s annual tree-decorating contest, a project initiated by Beverly Roberts-Atwater, raised funds for an IUP scholarship fund to recognize students who exhibit leadership and take part in community volunteer service. This project is in its fifth year at IUP. Fifteen fir trees, donated by the Indiana County Bar Association, are being sponsored by IUP and community groups and businesses. IUP students who are members of fraternities and sororities, the Mortar Board Honor Society, and the IUP Ambassadors decorated the trees. Spectators voted for a favorite decorated tree with monetary donations. Those who vote are eligible to win the tree sponsored and decorated by Roberts-Atwater and President Tony Atwater. The remaining fourteen trees and decorations are donated to families in the Salvation Army’s Treasures for Children program.
