The purpose of Sigma Alpha Iota is to give moral, academic, and material support to its members; to promote and dignify the musical profession, to promote the advancement of women in music; to establish and maintain friendly relations between musicians and music schools; and to further the development of music in America. This organization is open to all female students that have a sincere interest in music and service in music. All potential members must be at least second-semester freshmen. Members may belong to another national or social sorority/fraternity with the exception of Delta Omicron, Mu Phi Epsilon, or Phi Beta. All members must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75.
