- Professors Nayda Collazo-Llorens and Patricia Villalobos Echeverría of the IUP Department of Art are exhibiting in Transfer Lounge, an exhibition at Forja ArteContemporáneo in Valencia, Spain, and Space Gallery in Pittsburgh, Pa., in the fall of 2009.
- Nuttle Receives Outstanding Researcher Award for 2009
- Dr. Tim Nuttle of the Biology Deparment was selected by Dean Zanich as this year's Outstanding Researcher in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. A reception will be held November 4, 2009.
- Dries Performs in “Frankenstein” at Philadelphia Street Playhouse
- Communications Office staff member Bruce Dries is performing as the Creature in the production of Frankenstein at the Philadelphia Street Playhouse in downtown Indiana from October 23 through November 1, 2009.
- Giever Receives Second FBI Grant
- Dr. Dennis Giever, Department of Criminology, received a second external award from the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, in the amount of $264,771 for his project “FBI: Certificate of Recognition Cohort #3.”
- Ali Publishes Monograph on Female Faculty Experiences
- Dr. Parveen Ali, Department of Developmental Studies, has published a monograph based on her dissertation.
- Sissoko Presents on “Current Account Sustainability of ECOWAS Countries”
- Dr. Yaya Sissoko of the Department of Economics presented a research paper entitled “Current Account Sustainability of ECOWAS Countries” at the sixty-eighth International Atlantic Economic Society annual conference
- Runge Named Outstanding Researcher
- Dr. Timothy Runge has been named this year’s Outstanding Researcher in the College of Education and Educational Technology and will be honored with a reception in the Breezedale Library on November 4, 2009.

- Matthew Ferrence’s literary essay “Rules of the Game” has been nominated for the 2009 Pushcart Prize and the 2010 Dzanc Books Best of the Web prize.

- Steve Hovan, Department of Geosciences, participated in an international meeting for the week of October 12, 2009, to sample sediment cores collected in a recent research expedition to the Equatorial Pacific Ocean.

- Dr. Madeline Bayles has been appointed to the position of chair of the American College of Sports Medicine’s (ACSM) Committee on Certification and Registry Board.

- Journalism Department instructor Pat Farabaugh presented his dissertation project, titled “Carl McIntire and his Crusade to Topple the Fairness Doctrine,” at the annual national conference of the American Journalism Historians Association.

- Dr. John Lattanzio of the Mathematics Department presented “Partition Types” at the Midwest Conference on Combinatorics, Cryptography, and Computing on October 4, 2009. This year's conference was in honor of the sixty-eighth birthday of Walter Wallis.

- The School of Graduate Studies and Research is pleased to announce that Dr. Francisco Alarcón and Dr. Larry Feldman, Department of Mathematics, received an external award from the Indiana Area School District in the amount of $17,998 for their project, “Preparing Students for the 21st Century.”
