Credits and Academic Requirements

Credits 

The Philadelphia Urban Seminar will be taken as a three-credit course on your campus. The course may count for program credit in a variety of ways, such as:

  • A free elective
  • EDUC 242 field experience requirement
  • A multicultural experience
  • Or, it may be substituted for other requirements depending upon your particular program.

To be certain what it will count for, contact the urban coordinators on your campus.

Academic Requirements

Students are required to ...

  • Keep a daily log of activities, experiences, and critical incidents
  • Write a reaction paper
  • Participate in a group presentation on an assigned topic
  • Read, critique, and apply information from required readings in the articles on Urban Education packet
  • Participate in all activities of the course:
    • Evening learning forums
    • Professional development workshops
    • Classroom teaching
    • Community teaching
    • Community projects on the weekend
    • Cultural and historical site field trips
