- Dr. Neil Asting, retired Professor of Chemistry, and his wife, Karen, died in a plane crash on April 1, 2013.
- Dr. Nicholas Christodouleas, retired Professor of Chemistry, passed away on February 24, 2013.

- Mr. Matt Grata (B.S. ’11) visited the department with 11 students from his Chestnut Ridge High School class to see presentations, carry out an experiment, and present their own research to the department.
- Ms. Laura Fox (B.S. ’11) entered into the Chemistry Ph.D. program at the University of Minnesota.
- Ms. Deanna Belsky (B.S. ’11) entered into the Molecular/Cell/Development Biology Ph.D. program at Rockefeller University.
- Ms. Madison Kendera (M.S. ’11) accepted a laboratory analyst position with Concurrent Technologies Corp.
- Ms. Victoria Constant (B.S. ’11) accepted a position at Shadyside-Presbyterian Hospital.
- Mr. James Shellhammer (B.S. ’11) entered into the Biological and Biomedical Ph.D. program at UNC-Chapel Hill.
- Mr. Jonathan Henninger (B.S. ’11) entered into the Developmental and Regenerative Biology Ph.D. program at Harvard.
- Mr. Clinton Wilson (B.S. ’11) accepted a position with Lancaster Laboratories.
- Ms. Andrea Strein (B.S. ’11) entered into the Biotechnology M.S. program at Penn State.
- Mr. James Zewe (B.S. ’11) entered into the Biomedical Ph.D. program at Pitt.
- Ms. Maura Barrett (B.S. ’10) was accepted into the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh. She’ll be taking a summer class in epidemiology and starting the program in the fall. Congratulations, and good luck!
- Dana (Phillips) McElroy (B.S. ’94) and Nate McElroy (B.S. ’94) are proud to announce the birth of their son, Aidan Finn McElroy, on Dec. 20, 2010.
- Dr. Timothy Hays (former temporary faculty) was recently named as the E.A. provine chair of the Department of Chemistry at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ariz.
- Dr. Brian McNaughton (B.S. ’01) completed his Ph.D. at the University of Rochester, followed by a post-doctoral position at Harvard. He is now an assistant professor at Colorado State University.
- Dr. Jonathan Licker (B.S. ’94) was selected as the 2009 Cornell University Young Alumni Award recipient.
- Dr. Brian Stoltz (B.S. ’93) received a 2010 Tetrahedron Young Investigator Award.
- Dr. Gregory Ferrence (B.S. ’91) was selected as the 2009 Illinois Professor of the Year.
