Beginning early November 2009, the university will embark on the development of an exciting, comprehensive long-range facilities campus master plan. This journey will link the University Strategic Plan to the long-range physical development of campus. The plan will coalesce elements from the recently completed facility plans and various over space studies to guide campus development for the next ten to fifteen years. JJR of Ann Arbor, Michigan, national specialists in integrated high-education planning, will conduct the planning effort with a consultant team that includes SmithGroup, Inc., and Comprehensive Facilities Planning, Inc., which will help address building/infrastructure and future space needs respectively. The effort will encompass meeting with individuals and groups from both the campus and the community to engage in discussions that will help identify critical campus and community issues that the planning team should consider. While focus group meetings have been planned, there will be two opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to engage in the planning process at a series of open houses. During these informal events, participants will be asked to envision the future and share opportunities to enhance learning spaces, institutional image, parking, vehicular and pedestrian circulation, buildings and facilities, open space, and community connections. The input received will aid the planning team in understanding issues important to IUP’s students, faculty, and staff.
