IUP has received $166,058 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to help math teachers become more highly qualified.
IUP is one of five Pennsylvania universities sharing a $2.6-million federal grant for the project designed to aid practicing teachers in becoming “highly qualified” in the areas of Secondary Mathematics or Middle School Mathematics. Dr. Keith Dils, associate dean of the College and Education and Educational Technology and Dr. Brian Sharp of the Mathematics Department coordinate the program.
Details on the project, including how to apply, courses, and costs, can be found at Dr. Sharp's Highly Qualified Teachers Program website.
