It is best to resize your images before you upload them to your Ektron library. This gives you better control over the reduction process and ensures that your website vistors are not downloading unnecessarily large images.
IT Support Center clients that have the administrative desktop currently have access to Microsoft Image Composer. See instructions for resizing images using Microsoft Image Composer. If you have difficulty using or do not have access to Microsoft Image Composer or another photo-resizing tool, such as Adobe Photoshop, there are tools to do this available online. Following are instructions on how to use one of them.
Resizing Images Online
Follow these instructions to resize images online:
- Go to the online resizing website.
- Find the green box with the heading "3 Easy Steps."
- In the green box, under Step 1, click Browse and choose the image you would like to resize by double-clicking or clicking once and then clicking Open. (You are browsing your computer.)
- Under Step 2, indicate the height or width in pixels. Note that if you indicate both a height and width, you would need to know the exact measurements required to keep your image in proportion. We recommend entering the width only, using the recommended image widths in the chart above.
- Click Okay at the bottom of the green box.
- If you don't need to crop your image, go to the next step. If you need to crop, go to your image and adjust the screened box on top of your image. You can left-click the screened box and move your mouse to move the box. To change the size of the screened box, use the shift key and left-click a corner or edge of the screened box and resize accordingly. Then click Crop It.
- On the next screen, right-click your image and select Save Picture As. Then select the appropriate folder where you would like to save the image and retitle the image file as necessary.
Now that your image is sized appropriately, you can upload your image into Ektron.
