2009 Family Weekend Schedule

IUP and Indiana County are joining together to welcome the family members of our students during our annual Family Weekend celebration! Mark your calendar, and allow us to entertain you and your student with an exciting day of activities. Whether you are looking for high excitement and adventure at one of the most active universities in the nation, a relaxed visit to our scenic campus, or any number of interesting and unique Indiana community and county attractions, we guarantee you a memorable weekend with your family.

9:30– 11:30 a.m.	Family Weekend Brunch	Atrium, Hadley Union Building	Join members of the administration and faculty at the Family Reception and Complimentary Continental Brunch.
9:30 a.m.	Planetarium Show	Weyant Hall Planetarium (groups will meet in the lobby of the Hadley Union Building).	Dr. Ken Coles shows images from around the cosmos in the IUP Planetarium.
11:00 a.m.– 1:30 p.m.	Family Weekend Crimson Huddle	Second Floor, Eberly College of Business
11:00 a.m.	Planetarium Show	Weyant Hall Planetarium (groups will meet in the lobby of the Hadley Union Building).	Dr. Ken Coles shows images from around the cosmos in the IUP Planetarium.
11:00 a.m.– 12:30 p.m.	OHRL Reception	Lobby, Suites on Maple West	The Office of Housing and Residence Life (OHRL) welcomes all community assistants, peer mentors, office workers, Residence Hall Association officers, and Residence Hall Council members to Family Weekend. Please join us for our reception where residence directors and members of the OHRL Central Office will be in attendance.
1:00 p.m.	IUP Crimson Hawks Football vs. Gannon (For information about football tickets, please call 724-357-2057, M-F 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.)	Miller Stadium	Watch championship football action when the Crimson Hawks take on the Golden Knights of Gannon University. Game day ticket sales will begin at 10:30 a.m. Please see the back panel of your brochure for more information about ticket sales or call the Ticket Office at 724-357-2751.
1:00– 3:00 p.m.	Bingo!	Monongahela Room, Hadley Union Building	Come out and enjoy one of America’s oldest pastimes! Prizes will be available. BINGO is sponsored by BACCHUS.
2:00 p.m.	IUP Crimson Hawks Women's Soccer vs. Mercyhurst	South Campus Soccer Fields	Cheer the Crimson Hawks to victory against the Lakers in classic Division 2 soccer.
4:00–6:00 p.m.	Honor Thy Father and Mother—African American Cultural Center reception	Ohio Room, Hadley Union Building	All students and their families are invited to attend the nineteenth annual African American Cultural Center Family Weekend Reception.
4:30–6:00 p.m.	Robert E. Cook Honors College Reception	Whitmyre Hall	We are hosting a reception for families after the IUP football game in the Whitmyre Great Hall. Please join the HC community for snacks and lively conversation.
4:00 p.m.	IUP Crimson Hawks Volleyball vs. Slippery Rock	Memorial Field House	Crimson Hawks plan for victory over the Rock’s volleyball team.
5:30–7:30 p.m.	Family Weekend Buffet Dinner (limited seating)	Crimson Event Center, Folger Hall	Want to take advantage of a delicious, convenient, and inexpensive dining opportunity? Relax at a sumptuous, all-you-can-eat Family Weekend Dinner Buffet, including various entrées, vegetables, and desserts. Please see the back panel of your brochure for ticket sales. Admission into Jeff Civillico’s comedy show is included with Family Weekend Dinner ticket.
7:30 p.m.	Fireworks!	Indiana Skyline	The Student Cooperative Association celebrates the families of the IUP Community.
8:00 p.m.	Comedian Jeff Civillico Co-sponsored by BACCHUS	Fisher Auditorium	Jeff Civillico has developed his own brand of entertainment he titles “Comedy in Action.” This interactive performance style blends comedy, juggling, and an insane amount of energy to produce an unforgettable, spontaneous show.
