LTC Jason R. FreidtProfessor of Military Science

Lieutenant Colonel Jason R. Freidt is the department chair and professor of Military Science at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

A native of Temecula, California, LTC Freidt received his commission as an Armor officer from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, in June 1996. His previous assignments include: special assistant to the commanding general, United States Army Europe, Wiesbaden, Germany; secretary of the General Staff, V (US) Corps, Wiesbaden, Germany; executive officer to the deputy commanding general, V (US) Corps, Wiesbaden, Germany and Kabul, Afghanistan; operations officer, then executive officer, 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 5th Brigade (AETF), 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas; executive officer to the deputy director, Army Capabilities Integration Center, Fort Monroe, Virginia; operations officer, Operations Division, Army Capabilities Integration Center, Fort Monroe, Virginia; commander, C Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry, Fort Stewart, Georgia and Tikrit, Iraq; logistics officer, 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor, Fort Stewart, Georgia and Baghdad, Iraq; assistant operations officer, 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor, Fort Stewart, Georgia and Baghdad, Iraq; civil-military operations officer, 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor, Fort Stewart, Georgia and Gnjilane, Kosovo; executive officer, C Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry, Fort Hood, Texas; Mortar Platoon leader, 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry, Fort Hood, Texas and Kladanj, Bosnia-Herçegovina; and Tank Platoon leader, B Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry, Fort Hood, Texas.

Lieutenant Colonel Freidt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in American Legal Studies from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Science in Administration (Organizational Leadership) from Central Michigan University. His military education includes the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, the U.S. Army Red Team Leader Course, Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Infantry Mortar Leader Course, and the Combined Armed Services Staff School.

His awards and decorations include: three Bronze Star Medals, four Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, two Overseas Service Ribbons, the Army Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, and the Air Assault Badge, and the Combat Action Badge.

Lieutenant Colonel Freidt and his wife, the former Barbara (Bobbie) Hoessle, have twin daughters, Parker and Emma, and currently reside in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
