Professor of Military Science

Lieutenant Colonel David Meyer is the department chair and professor of Military Science at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

A native of Monrovia, Maryland, LTC Meyer was commissioned as an armor officer from Frostburg State University (Md.), in 1994. His previous assignments include: Executive Officer, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Ft Carson, Colo., and Kandahar City, Afghanistan; Executive Officer, 1st Battalion 66th Armored Regiment, Ft Hood, Tex., and Baghdad, Iraq; Future Operations Planner, HQ, 4th Infantry Division and Multi-National Division Baghdad, Ft Hood, Tex., and Baghdad, Iraq; Armor Captains Career Course Small Group Instructor, Ft Knox, Ky.; Observer/Controller, U.S. Army National Training Center, Ft Irwin, Calif.; Commander B Company, 2nd Battalion 69th Armored Regiment, Commander D Troop, 10th US Cavalry Regiment, and Brigade Plans and Exercises Officer, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Ft Benning, Ga.; Executive Officer, Headquarters Company 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, and Assistant Operations Officer and Tank Platoon Leader, 1st Battalion 12th US Cavalry Regiment, Ft Hood, Tex.

Lieutenant Colonel Meyer holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from Frostburg State University and a Master of Military Arts and Sciences (Theater Operations) from the U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies. His military education includes the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Armed Services Staff School, and the Advanced Military Studies Program at the U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies.

His awards and decorations include: two Bronze Star Medals, four Meritorious Service Medals, the Army Commendation Medal, five Army Achievement Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Military Volunteer Service Medal, two Overseas Service Ribbons, the Army Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, and the Parachutist Badge.

Lieutenant Colonel Meyer and his wife, the former Angela Rizzuto, have a daughter, Victoria, and a son, Nicholas.
