Move-in 2009 went smoothly, thanks to the help of hundreds of people, including Vyleisha White, center, and Lauren Hillegas, right.

A final count for Fall enrollment will be announced in mid-September, but projections are that the Fall enrollment is at approximately 14,500.

“Washington Post’s” Woodward to Be Speaker in First Commonwealth Lecture Series
Bob Woodward, of the Washington Post, will be the speaker for the second annual First Commonwealth Endowed Lecture on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium.
A Fresh(man) Start
Sam Heastie, nationally known for his expertise in student success, was the keynote speaker for the 2009 Freshman Convocation.
Campus Heritage Grant Project Completed
A campus preservation plan, which addresses the preservation, conservation, and continued use of IUP’s historic landscape and buildings, is now complete.

Mortar Board Honor Society’s IUP Chapter Wins National Award
The Sutton Chapter of Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society has received a Gold Torch Award for overall excellence and a Project Excellence Award from the national organization.
State of the University
IUP President Tony Atwater presented the 2009 State of the University Address, “Through the Storm and Bound for Greatness,” on August 27. Atwater addressed the accomplishments of the past year and the opportunities for this coming academic year, and spoke about the budget challenges and offered solutions.
