Dr. Rick’s Traveling Shakespeare Show—The Tempest

Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

One of Shakespeare’s most magical tales performed in a way you’ve never seen before—as a 1930s circus show. The magician Prospero is the Ringmaster and creates the illusions, Ariel is an aerial silks artiste, and Caliban a sideshow freak. Complete with drunken clowns, this exhilarating performance combines professional performers, undergraduates, alumni and professors, and it’s free for incoming freshmen! Sunday, August 24

Excuse Me, How Do I Get to…?

Meet at Hadley Union Building, Front Desk
You will get the chance to be personally guided through campus with other first-year students. Bring your schedules, and the Welcome Weekend Leaders will show you where your classroom buildings are, so that your first day will be a breeze.

Mandatory College/Departmental Meetings

Meet your department chairperson and other faculty members; learn about resources in your college and department; understand course requirements and the procedures for scheduling classes in the spring semester; discover clubs, honoraries, and other ways to be involved in your major. Most college/departmental meetings take place on Sunday, August 24; some will take place within the first few weeks of class. Students living on campus whose meetings do not occur on Sunday: Meet your CA on your floor at 4:45 p.m. to go to Freshman Convocation.

Freshman Convocation

5:00 p.m.
Fisher Auditorium
Begin the afternoon at your academic department meeting and travel with faculty members and peers to Fisher Auditorium for this celebration! The convocation will feature a keynote speaker.

Oak Grove Cookout

Immediately following Convocation
Oak Grove (rain location: Foster Dining Hall and HUB)
Join your fellow class mates for a cook out in the Oak Grove! Aramark has prepared a scrumptious menu, so please join faculty, staff, and students for food and fun!
