Students identified as eligible for Act 101 support receive the Department of Developmental Studies’ complete freshman program.

The Act 101 Program, created as a result of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Equal Opportunity Act 101 in 1971 by the legislature of the commonwealth, focuses on servicing IUP students in order to make the ideal of equal educational opportunity a reality for all qualified students.

What is the Act 101 Program?

This is a First-Year Experience Program for Pennsylvania students who have been admitted to college and qualify for the Pennsylvania State Act 101 Program. The purpose of this program is to assist students to make a successful transition to college.

Why should I participate in the Act 101 Program?

Students who participate in first-year college programs, like IUP’s Act 101 Program, typically experience higher levels of academic success, satisfaction, and graduation.

What is the cost to participate in the Act 101 Program?

There is no added cost for you to participate in the Act 101 program.
