Regular Part-Time Faculty Tenure Procedures

  1. Regular part-time faculty will follow Article 12, Performance Review and Evaluation of Faculty and Article 15, Tenure in the CBA. 
  2. An award of tenure to a regular part-time faculty member will be made without reference to a percentage of workload.  The faculty member would be awarded the status of tenure in total.
  3. If a tenured part-time faculty member applies for a full-time position within their department and receives the majority of the regular full-time department faculty votes to hire the tenured part-time faculty member, he/she would not have another probationary period and would be hired as a full-time tenured faculty member in the position; or;
  4. The department could request approval for a search waiver along with the credentials of the tenured regular part-time faculty member.  Approval would be required from the Dean, Provost and Director of Social Equity and Civic Engagement.  If approved, the tenured part-time faculty member would not have another probationary period and would be hired as a full-time tenured faculty member in the position.
  5. This agreement is retroactive to include all previously tenured regular part-time faculty.
