Chiarulli and Neusius Present Papers at State and Regional Conferences: Drs. Sarah Neusius and Beverly Chiarulli from the Department of Anthropology presented papers on their research in western Pennsylvania at the Mid-Atlantic Archaeological Conference in Ocean City, Md., and at the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology in Harrisburg, Pa.
Garcia Publishes Two Papers on His Research: Two papers were recently published by Dr. Victor Garcia of the Department of Anthropology.
Travis Receives Educator of the Year Award from Armstrong Conservation District: Dr. Holly Travis, a faculty member in the Biology department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, was named 2008 Educator of the Year at the annual meeting of the Armstrong Conservation District on March 13, 2009. Travis was recognized for her work in several environmental education activities in the area.
Chemistry Professor Long Recognized for Achievements: Dr. George R. Long, professor of Chemistry at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, was recognized Wednesday for Outstanding Achievement in Curriculum and Instruction during the fifteenth annual Awards Luncheon.
Lind Appointed to National Sports Video Group Advisory Board: David Lind, WIUP-TV operations manager, has been appointed to the national Sports Video Group’s advisory board.
Dawkins Publishes Two Chapters and Article: Susan Dawkins, Department of Developmental Studies, contributed two chapters to Bruce Colbert’s college success textbook, Navigating Your Future: An Interactive Journey to Personal and Academic Success, and wrote the instructor's manual for the text.
Wang Publishes Article on Comprehending the Global Main Idea: Dr. Danhua Wang, of the Department of Developmental Studies, published a research article in the Journal of College Reading and Learning, a referred journal.
Video Professor and Students Win Film Competition Awards: Dr. Erick Lauber and several of his students at the Digital Media Institute have won three awards in recent film competitions.
Farnsworth Awarded IUP Research Institute New Investigator Award: Katie Farnsworth, assistant professor of Geosciences, was awarded the IUP Research Institute New Investigator Award for 2009.
Mathematics Professor Presents at NCTM National Conference: Dr. Larry Feldman of the Mathematics Department presented “If the Perimeter Increases, Does the Area Increase, Too?” at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics national conference on April 24, 2009.
Mathematics Professor Reilly Presents on Literature and Mathematics: Dr. Edel Reilly of the Department of Mathematics recently presented “Project Math Lit: Using Children’s Literature to Equalize Mathematics Pedagogy” at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics 2009 annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
Mathematics Professor Reilly Publishes Two Articles: Dr. Edel Reilly’s article “Educational Re-Visions: Integrating Visual Literacy Instruction Across the Disciplines” has been published in Engaging Creativity and Critical Thinking, a peer-reviewed book of selected readings by the International Visual Literacy Association.

Mathematics Professor Steelman Publishes Problem Solution: John Henry Steelman of the Mathematics Department had his problem solution “Counting Permutations With Two Displacement Values” published in the May issue of The American Mathematical Monthly.
Adkins, Hershman Receive Natural Science and Mathematics Service Awards: Dr. Rick Adkins, professor of Mathematics, and Dr. Ken Hershman, professor emeritus of Physics, received the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Outstanding Achievement Award for Service from Dean John Eck.

Rodríguez Invited to Present in Michoacán, México: Dr. Lydia Rodríguez was invited to speak about the importance of higher education by the city of La Piedad, Michoacán, México. The title of her March 30, 2009, presentation was “La educación sin límites” (Education Without Limits).
