IUP’s Council of Trustees presented the family of Stephen Mayhle, a 2002 Criminology graduate and Pittsburgh City Police officer killed in the line of duty on April 4, with a resolution in his memory at the May Council of Trustees meeting.
It recognized Mayhle as “a serious and excellent student who distinguished himself in the classroom; a devoted husband, father, and son and native of Indiana County . . . (who) inspired pride in members of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania community as well as deep sorrow at his sacrifice.”

Pictured from left are Trustee Susan Delaney; President Tony Atwater; Mayhle’s widow, Shandra; his mother, Marjorie, and father, Ronald; and daughters Brooklynn and Jennifer.
