Crunching the Numbers

The IUP Mathematics program offers two tracks of study that enables you to use your math skills to the highest level. The BS in Mathematics degree prepares you for careers in any endeavor that values that talents of an analytical mind, such as several business and government settings, while the BS in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics track degree prepares you for work in industry, statistics, engineering, and a variety of other careers. You may also earn your BS degree and work towards a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics with our latest 4+1 program.

Applied Mathematics Track

This track prepares you to work where computer science is used, especially in the fields of industry. It also serves as a foundation for those who wish to continue their studies in applied mathematics. Learn more.

This latest program allows you to work toward your master’s degree while at the same time allowing you to work toward your BS in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics. Learn more.

Why Math at IUP?

  • S-COAM offers you scholarships to help fund your studies, awards that can range up to $6,500.
  • S-COAM also provides financial support for scholarship recipients to attend several conferences and events that enable you to explore more about your studies.
  • Every mathematics course has no more than 40 students. Your professors will know who you are.
  • There is a student lounge available for use.
  • The BS in Mathematics and the BS in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics track are also offered as minors.
