University Family Campaign

Family Takes Care of Each Other.

Whether you teach, coach, clean, make decisions, make repairs, patrol the campus, or counsel students—you are part of the unique IUP family. When you support IUP through gifts to the Foundation for IUP, you make a strong statement. You demonstrate that you believe in your work and IUP's mission. When many members of the university family contribute, it sends a message to alumni and to those in Harrisburg that we care, that we are dedicated to our cause, and that we are, in turn, worthy of their support.

Giving is easy and can be personally rewarding. You can make a gift through payroll deduction—as little as a dollar a pay. You can write a check and send it in campus mail. Or, you can make a credit card transaction. See one student's story on how donations like yours are used.

How you do it and what area of the campus benefits is up to you, but please know that if we pull together and exceed the number of donors we had last year, we will be rewarded. You might choose to give to the Fund for IUP, the Sutton Scholarship, or to your own department or area of interest.

What matters is most is that you give.

Because of Performance Measures, Gifts Have More Impact than Ever!

Here’s something members of the family need to know…

If the number of individual donations to support IUP programs and students increases this year, we stand to be rewarded additional budget money from PASSHE. You’ve heard about performance measures, right? Last year, because we did so well at meeting them, IUP received a performance award of $5.1 million. This year, one of the measures challenges us to increase the number of people who give to IUP.

Think about that: Your gift this year can help IUP receive a higher allocation. The more people who give, the better chance we stand of receiving that allocation. Your gift also can be applied to any program on campus—including any department’s programs and scholarships. You can direct your gift to benefit anything at IUP.

We are telling alumni about this excellent opportunity, and it’s important for our immediate family to know, too.

We Are Family

80 percent to goal

Thanks to the generosity of university family members so far, we have surpassed 80 percent of our goal. Please join in and help us reach 100 percent by April 12.

Answers to Your Questions

I work here. Why should I give to IUP?

Each of us has a vested interest in the success of the university and the students we serve, and giving is a tangible way to signify our commitment and our belief in IUP students. Payroll deduction allows you to spread your commitment throughout the course of the year—it’s so easy. You may also choose to make a one-time commitment via check or credit card. Charitable foundations and other agencies often look at faculty and staff giving rates. By giving to IUP, you say to them that you believe the work of the university is worth their investment, too.

How much should I give?

Every gift, no matter the amount, is important to IUP’s future. Your participation in the University Family Campaign—your belief in IUP’s potential—is what this campaign is all about.

These are examples of what your gift or approximate payroll deduction can do to assist a student, improve a classroom experience, or make the campus a nicer place.*

$25 ($1 per pay period)
Presentation supplies for two students; ticket for a student to attend an on-campus cultural event.

$50 ($2 per pay period)
CDs for the music library; medical supplies for a nursing simulation lab; a textbook for a student in need.

$100 ($5 per pay period)
Four student tickets to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra; pots and pans for the Culinary Academy; cost of a passport for a student to study abroad; contribution to an existing scholarship fund; a textbook for a student in need.

$250 ($10 per pay period)
Conference registration fees for a student to present research; lab equipment; naming a seat in Fisher Auditorium.

$500 ($20 per pay period)
Honorary or memorial tree on campus; a semester’s worth of books for a student in need; a departmental scholarship award.

$1,000 ($40 per pay period)
Internship stipend for an unpaid experience; supplies for a faculty and student collaborative research project; technology upgrades for IUP Libraries.

My spouse works for a matching gift company. Does that help with the campaign?

It does! If your spouse works for a company that will match your donation, the impact of your gift could be doubled. Some companies that operate here in Indiana do have matching gift programs. Some examples include Dominion Gas, EME Homer City Generating Station, K-Mart, Sears, and PNC. Ask your spouse to check with his or her employer, or check www.matchinggifts.com/iup. Double your commitment through a matching gift.
