Our philosophy at the James G. Mill Center for Health and Fitness is to provide a facility to Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s faculty, staff, and students and to the general community that is here to support you in your quest for lifetime health and fitness.

The James G. Mill Center for Health and Fitness in Zink Hall is an essential part of the learning environment for IUP’s Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Science in the College of Health and Human Services. The Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Science serves academic majors in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Sport Administration, and Health and Physical Education Teacher Certification. The department also serves the academic needs of IUP students outside of the department in providing health and wellness education through the use of the fitness center.

The philosophy of the James G. Mill Center for Health and Fitness is to foster a cooperative atmosphere among all users of the facility between IUP faculty and staff, general community members, and students that will support individuals in their quests for lifetime health and fitness. We strive to maintain a workout environment that meets the needs of each individual by creating a personal and clean atmosphere and by providing accommodating staff, a variety of equipment, personal trainers, group fitness classes, and health education. We are here for our members and enjoy showing our appreciation for your support in the simple things, including towel service, lockers, parking (with a requested pass letter), and access to the building’s 85-degree natatorium.

What We have to Offer

Our two resistance-machine circuits consist of updated equipment that will allow you to get a full-body workout in one sweep, working from fine to gross motor skills and muscle groups. Or, if you prefer, we have full sets of free weights and calisthenic equipment as well.

We also have a variety of equipment to balance your strength-training regimen with a cardiovascular workout with a full line of treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, stair climbers, rowers, and cross-trainers.

Our aerobics room can help you round out your workout with a cool-down stretch or by taking advantage of our other types of resistance equipment with our collection of medicine balls, resistance tubes, kettle balls, and stability balls.

Our staff team at the James G. Mill Center for Health and Fitness wants to help guide you towards your ultimate fitness goals by supporting the belief that fitness is an entire lifestyle plan that contributes to quality of life and wellness as a whole. Please let us know how we can help!
