About Us
Indiana University of Pennsylvania is committed to encouraging intellectual excellence, research, scholarship, and public service. Singly and through collaboration with other educational institutions, business, government, human services, and professional organizations, IUP contributes to the economic and cultural strength of the region, the commonwealth, and the nation through education, scholarship, and service.
An important avenue of research and public service are IUP Centers and Institutes. By joining together faculty, staff, and students, Centers and Institutes provide a way to address areas of mutual concern, interests, and needs. Centers and Institutes often spark creativity and new initiatives by bringing together faculty, staff, and students from the same or different academic departments. Centers and Institutes provide many opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to work in an applied setting, complementing the learning that takes place inside the traditional classroom.
Our Services
A wide variety of services are offered to community leaders in government, business, education, human service, and health care agencies and organizations. All services rely on the expertise of one or more faculty members and usually include undergraduate and graduate students. Typical services include the following:
- Policy analysis for local governments
- Needs assessments
- Survey research
- Computer projects
- Software development
- Archaeological services including Phase I and Phase II surveys
- Specialized census and economic data reports
- Proposal and project development
