Don McAndrew has taught everything from seventh grade to doctoral courses, but ENGL 101 is his favorite. He enjoys graduate classes like Introduction to Research, Teaching Writing, and Qualitative Research, but his 101 kids are the ones who remind him of why he became a teacher. Don’s relationship with his students extends beyond the classroom, and during summer sessions at IUP, you are likely to find him enjoying picnics in the Oak Grove with his students. He is also an involved father and husband who enjoys talking with and visiting his kids, trying new restaurants and wines with his wife, and boating or cross-country skiing at Deep Creek Lake in Maryland’s western mountains. His publications include Tutoring Writing: A Practical Guide for Conferences, and his current manuscript, Leadership Strategies for Literacy Teachers, is currently under consideration.
