RBC Bank: Senior Programmer/Analyst

Position Purpose:

Researches the technical requirements of a project/function and reflects such in the analysis, design specification, software product evaluation, coding, testing, implementation and/or maintenance of the application.

This position is accountable for developing, enhancing, and maintaining multiple applications.  Knowledgeable in systems analysis and design with the ability to convert technical designs requirements into efficient and logical code utilizing best coding practices.  Communicate very effectively, and pass acquired technical knowledge and information on to others within the organization.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Analyze, code, test and implement effective and efficient solutions to business needs.
  • Analyze request(s) and develop detail specifications required for approved programming assignments.
  • Accurately estimate development time and coordinate/develop work plans.
  • Ensure system development integrity according to industry-accepted standards and practices
  • Primary on-call support: taking all necessary steps to ensure a timely resolution of problems and keep the production cycle on schedule.
  • Manages and escalates issues, risks and technology related issues in a timely informative manner.
  • May participate in detailed design phases for selected projects/ programs identifying, tracking and suggesting resolutions for technical issues and ensuring solution meets sponsor needs and SDLC deliverables.
  • May work with the project team, determines best mix of development, interfacing applications, third party vendor solutions to meet business requirements and project objectives.

Job Requirements: (Knowledge/ Experience):

**Customer Information File (CIF) Experience Required**

  • Technical training and/or certification with equivalent work experience
  • Proven application development experience working on large to complex projects/ programs with multiple applications and multiple interfaces and/or 3rd parties

Process Knowledge

  • Thorough understanding and experience with applicable programming languages, tools, concepts and techniques.   
  • Understanding of testing and implementation requirements of development.
  • IT Standards, Methodologies, audit requirements
  • Change management process

Systems Knowledge

  • Development and testing tools (e.g. TSO, PVCS, Expediter, File-Aid, QA Run; QA Director)
  • Knowledge of COBOL, CICS, Easytrieve Plus, TSO/ISPF, MVS JCL required.
