The mission of the Rifle Club is:
- To develop competence in the sport of competitive rifle marksmanship.
- To promote wholesome appreciation for the rifle as a competitive sporting instrument.
- To develop skill in the safe and proper handling of rifles.
- To represent Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Intercollegiate Rifle Competition.
The primary criteria for membership in this organization will be competitive competence with the rifle. Supporting criteria will be sincerity of desire and competitive spirit. Membership will be on an annual basis and open to all IUP students. At the beginning of each academic semester, a four week training program will be conducted for prospective members. Upon conclusion of the training course, a competition will be schedule for all prospective and current members. This competition will yield membership for the year in question. It is believed that subjecting all concerned individuals to annual membership selection procedures will generate a responsibility for the development and retention of competence.
