Office of Housing and Residence Life Values Statement on Recruitment and Hiring

Based upon the above, it is a value of the Office of Housing and Residence Life that all persons are treated with respect.

The Office of Housing, Residential Living, and Dining is committed to providing a broad learning experience for all students and staff. Through the active recruitment and hiring of a diverse staff, the educational experience for all students and staff will be enhanced in the following ways:

Students and staff members will be exposed to ability, age, cultural, gender, racial, religious, and sexual orientation differences. They will have the opportunity to grow personally and professionally by learning to live and work in a pluralistic environment.

Through exposure and experience, students and staff members will be encouraged to value diversity as a means to improving the quality of life for the campus community.

Students and staff members will have a variety of role models within the Office of Housing and Residence Life.

Through the achievement of a greater understanding and appreciation of others, students and staff members will be better prepared to practice appropriate behaviors in a pluralistic environment, thus increasing each individual's potential to contribute positively to the larger community.
