The John P. Murtha Institute for Homeland Security leads IUP’s unified effort to provide high-quality educational programs, conduct significant research, and provide effective community outreach in the areas of homeland security and homeland defense with the goal of preventing and deterring future terrorist attacks and reducing the threats and hazards to the United States.
The Murtha Institute focuses on education, outreach and training, and research and development in homeland security, which includes emergency management, public health preparedness, security and intelligence, and homeland defense.
