Registering for Classes

Registration for undergraduate and graduates will be done during Orientation. Schedules of your classes will be constructed at that time and not prior to your arrival at IUP.

If you are concerned about classes, please contact your department with questions. Generally, the Office of International Education staff members are not your academic advisors. For graduate students, the name of your department chairperson is listed on your acceptance letter; you may write to him/her for advice.

Please note: A range of seats in courses are being held for International students during Orientation.

You can look at the class requirements and see which classes are offered during the term you arrive at IUP. All degree-seeking students have required classes to take. It is recommended to take these first.

To see a list of courses required by your major:

  1. Go to the IUP catalogs:
  2. Click on the college of your major (example: College of Business).
    • Look for the required classes for your major. Make a list of classes you might want to take your first semester.
    • Undergraduates take four to five classes. Graduates take three to four classes.

To view classes offered for each semester:

  1. Go to MyIUP.
  2. Click on View Schedule of Classes Listing and choose the appropriate semester.
  3. You will see an alphabet across the top of the screen. Click on the letter of the academic department the class is in. Example: If you need to see if Accounting 101 is offered, go to the A, then Accounting, and you will see which classes and times are offered for the semester.

You cannot register for classes until you arrive at IUP. Further questions about classes should be referred to your department.
