Preserve the Past to Prepare the Future
The Pennsylvania Labor History Society was founded in 1974 “to bring together those persons and organizations interested in the study and preservation of the history of labor in Pennsylvania and the surrounding regions.” Since its founding, the society has held an annual conference and published an annual newsletter or journal. Each year the society presents a Mother Jones Award, a John Brennan Labor Education Award, and a Bill Sylvis Award. The society is also dedicated to marking the major events of Pennsylvania labor history with state historical markers.
