IUP International Education Scholarship
The scholarship is being funded with the generous support of the following IUP offices:
- Office of the President
- Foundation for IUP
- Office of International Education
The IUP International Education Scholarship shall provide financial support to students enrolled at IUP for overseas educational opportunities (study abroad, exchange, faculty-led programs, and independently-arranged programs). The committee plans to make awards ranging from $500 to $2,000 depending on duration, location, and type of program.
In helping to defray the additional costs associated with overseas educational experiences (travel, passport, visas, etc.), the IUP International Education Scholarship strives to assist a wide range of IUP students from diverse academic backgrounds to take advantage of the variety of academic programs offered throughout the world.
Deadlines:

Eligibility and Application Forms:
John F. and Yvonne Galli Trettel Scholarship
The Trettel Study Abroad Scholarship shall provide scholarship support to students enrolled at Indiana University of Pennsylvania for study-abroad educational and/or international cultural experience opportunities in Western Europe, favoring such countries as Italy, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
- Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria for scholarship consideration:
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student at IUP
- Full-time status over the summer is not required if student was enrolled as a full-time student at IUP during the previous Fall and/or Spring semester(s)
- Must be in good academic standing with IUP
- Must be a non-foreign-language major
- Must have completed a minimum of 48 credits
- Must be first overseas experience
- Must demonstrate self-reliance, maturity, and flexibility to deal with the challenges and opportunities associated with study-abroad programs
Preference will be given to students who have financial need.
Selection of recipients for the Trettel Study Abroad Scholarship shall be made by a committee, chaired by the director of the Office of International Education. The recipient of this award will provide an after-action report to the International Education at the completion of study abroad, including highlights of cultural experiences and language competence attained.

Eligibility and Application Forms:
Lieutenant General Joseph S. Laposata and Anita L. Laposata Study Abroad Scholarship
The Lieutenant General Joseph S. Laposata and Anita L. Laposata Study Abroad Scholarship shall provide scholarship support to students enrolled at Indiana University of Pennsylvania for study-abroad opportunities in Italy, Portugal, or Spain.
Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria for scholarship consideration:
- Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at IUP
- Must be participating in a full-time study-abroad program (of at least 12 earned educational credits) sanctioned and approved by IUP
- Must have completed a minimum of 48 credits
- Must have earned a minimum 2.5 grade-point average and be in good academic standing with IUP
- Must be accepted to an Office of International Education-approved program
- Study abroad must be a minimum of one academic semester
- Must demonstrate self-reliance, maturity, and flexibility to deal with the challenges and opportunities associated with study abroad programs
Preference will be given to students who have financial need.
Selection of recipients for the Laposata Study Abroad Scholarship shall be made by the Office of International Education. The recipient of this award will provide an after-action report—including highlights of cultural experiences and language competence attained—to Lieutenant General and Mrs. Laposata and Office of International Education at the completion of study abroad.

Dr. Patrick A. Carone Study Abroad Scholarship
The Carone Study Abroad Scholarship shall provide scholarship support to students enrolled at Indiana University of Pennsylvania for study-abroad educational opportunities.
Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria for scholarship consideration:
- Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at IUP
- Must be participating in a full time study-abroad program (12 earned educational credits) sanctioned and approved by IUP
- Must have completed a minimum of 24 credits or completed their freshman year of study
- Must have earned a minimum 2.5 grade-point average and be in good academic standing with IUP
- Must be accepted to an Office of International Education-approved program
- Study abroad must be a minimum of one academic semester
- Must demonstrate self-reliance, maturity, and flexibility to deal with the challenges and opportunities associated with study abroad programs
Preferences will be given to students who have financial need.
Selection of recipients for the Carone Study Abroad Scholarship shall be made by a committee, chaired by the director of the Office of International Education. The recipient of this award will provide an after-action report—including highlights of cultural experiences and language competence attained—to International Education at the completion of study abroad.

Eberly College of Business and Information Technology (ECBIT) Study Abroad Scholarship
ECBIT shall provide scholarship support in the amount of $500 each for two qualified Business students enrolled at Indiana University of Pennsylvania for study abroad at the University of Macau through IUP's exchange program.
Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria for scholarship consideration:
Must be participating as a full time study abroad student at the University of Macau (minimum 12 earned educational credits)
Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate, Business student at IUP
Must have completed a minimum of 24 credits
Must have earned a minimum 2.5 grade point average at IUP and be in good academic standing with IUP
Must study abroad at the University of Macau for a minimum of one academic semester
Must demonstrate self-reliance, maturity, and flexibility to deal with the challenges and opportunities associated with study abroad programs
