Psi Chi Honor Society

Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology. There are many benefits to joining Psi Chi.

In addition to forming lasting friendships, Psi Chi is a great way to become involved in IUP, network with professors and employers, and learn about the field of psychology. There is a one-time-only fee of around $37 that gives you lifetime membership.

IUP’s chapter of Psi Chi has created an Undergraduate Advisor website, intended to guide undergraduate Psychology majors on their path to graduate school or a career in psychology after graduation.

Psi Chi’s current officers are

  • President: Sarah Bedwell
  • Vice President: Janell Smalley
  • Secretary: Iryna Yavorska

Who is Eligible?

  • Second-semester sophomores, or juniors and seniors
  • Those who have GPA of 3.0 or above (both overall and in Psychology) and in are in the upper 35 percent of their class
  • Those who have at least 9 credits in psychology
  • Majors or minors in psychology

What Does Psi Chi Do?

  • Holds two meetings per month
  • Organizes and hosts an extensive colloquium series on topics useful to psychology majors, such as GREs and practicum experiences
  • Attends regional psychological conferences
  • Community service projects each month
  • Helps to promote knowledge and ideals of psychology to the community and other psychology majors

How to Join

Psi Chi holds membership drives each semester. Look for membership forms on the Psi Chi bulletin board located near 113 Uhler Hall.
