Psi Chi Honor Society

Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology

Psi Chi is the international honor society in Psychology and was founded in 1929 with the purposes of encouraging scholarship and advancing the science of psychology. IUP’s chapter of Psi Chi is very active within the department and university, and is an ideal way for undergraduate students to gain valuable information about psychology, including research opportunities, graduate school, career options, and community service activities.

IUP’s chapter of Psi Chi has created an Undergraduate Advisor website, intended to guide undergraduate psychology majors on their path to graduate school or a career in psychology after graduation.

Psi Chi holds bimonthly meetings with activities, including guest lectures from community organizations such as the Alice Paul House, faculty and student panels on research, graduate school and career opportunities, GRE prep sessions, field trips to local psychological agencies such as Torrence State Hospital, and community service planning activities. Members may attend professional meetings, including the annual Eastern Psychological Association (EPA) conference, and many members have presented papers or posters at this and other regional and local conferences.

Currently, Psi Chi functions as both an honor society and the psychology club. All students interested in psychology are encouraged to attend Psi Chi meetings and events, whether they are formal members of Psi Chi or not.

Psi Chi’s current officers may be reached through Dr. Reardon (faculty advisor)
