When editing or creating web pages, you probably plan to copy text from another site and paste it onto your new site.
However, pasting text from another website brings along code that you don’t want in Ektron, as it can alter the appearance of your content.
Because Ektron’s CMS Editor is similar to Microsoft Word and uses many of the same shortcuts, people are likely to use the shortcut for paste (Ctrl+V). Do not use it; this shortcut will bring along the unwanted code. Instead, use the Paste Text icon.
See the following process to copy and paste text from another website:
- In Ektron, navigate to the content block where you want to paste the content and open it for editing.
- In a separate browser window, go to the website you want to copy content from. Highlight and copy the content (Edit->Copy or shortcut Ctrl+C).
- Go back to your open content block in Ektron. To paste the text, click on the Paste Text icon (fourth from the left on the top toolbar). Paste Text cleans the copied content of all its code.
