Departmental/Subunit Identity

Department Identity System

Colleges, departments, and offices within the university are identified by placing the name of the unit beneath the university name, using the IUP wave artmark/IUP nameplate combination. The unit name is aligned to the left in all-capital letters directly beneath the university name, using the font Gill Sans Light in Pantone 201 IUP Crimson. The baseline of the subhead should be aligned with the top, rightmost area of the Pantone 422 IUP Gray portion of the wave artmark.

Department Identity System

This system is to be used consistently for identifying all component offices of the university.

An address panel/contact information area may be added to the basic department identity when desired. The font used for the address panel is Vectora. The baseline of the address panel will be aligned with the bottom left (gray) portion of the IUP artmark.

Department Identity System

If there is a subunit to the office or department identified beneath the university nameplate, this subunit is identified in the first line of the address panel, using the font Vectora Bold Italic.

If there is no subunit, the first line of the mailing address is placed in the same position and alignment specified above.

Department Identity System

The address is set in black, using the font Vectora Roman. If a phone number is included, it will be Pantone 201 IUP Crimson, using dashes between the number groupings, not periods or parentheses. A departmental web URL may also be included beneath the telephone number. URLs are also set in IUP Crimson, using the font Vectora Italic.

Special Needs Subunit

In certain circumstances* where horizontal room is inadequate, the artmark and subunit may need to be represented without the full nameplate (see sample below).

The subunit name should be centered, on one or two lines, in black. It should be one and one-half times the height of a capital letter away from the artmark.

*This configuration is to be used in special informal situations.

In rare instances when the entire university name, unit name, and address panel need to be “reversed out” (appear in white) on a dark background, the logo and nameplate combo will follow the structure shown below.

The unit name is aligned to the left in all-capital letters directly beneath the university name, using the font Gill Sans Light in white. The top of the subhead should be aligned with the bottom of the logo and white vertical stroke line.

An address panel/contact information area may be added to the basic  department identity when desired. The font used for the address panel is Vectora. The baseline of the address panel will be the height of two capital letters below the unit name.

If there is a subunit to the office or department identified beneath the university nameplate, this subunit is identified in the first line of the address panel, using the font Vectora Bold Italic.

If there is no subunit, the first line of the mailing address is placed in the position and alignment specified above.

The address is set in white, using the font Vectora Roman. If a phone number is included, it will be also be white, using dashes between the number groupings, not periods or parentheses. A departmental web URL may also be included beneath the telephone number. URLs are also set in white, using the font Vectora Italic.
