IUP’s official school colors are crimson and gray, and these colors are an important part of the university’s visual identity. As such, it is important to use the correct colors consistently wherever possible. The correct colors, specified using the Pantone Marking System (PMS), are IUP Crimson (PMS 201) and IUP Gray (PMS 422).
To ensure that the official university colors are displayed accurately no matter what the medium, use the color “recipes” listed below. Most graphics software programs, such as Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop, allow users to set the proper color values for CMYK (colors to appear in the print medium), RGB (colors to appear in video, on computer monitors, or in PowerPoint presentations), and for other specialized color models. Choosing the values shown in the chart below will guarantee the closest match to the IUP official colors.

College Colors
A primary identity color has been assigned to each of the academic colleges, as a means of building a common identity thread across the component departments of the colleges. This color may be applied to the IUP wave design theme or applied in other ways to unobtrusively show college affiliation.

Secondary Color Palette
In printed publications, advertisements, and for other uses, IUP makes use of a palette of secondary colors to complement the official school colors. While designers are not restricted to using only these secondary colors, the colors in this palette were carefully chosen so that their intensity and color values work well with the official school colors. As such, they are the preferred supporting colors.
