Application Process

An application can be obtained from any Pennsylvania State Police barracks or by accessing the Forms section of the Lethal Weapons website. Applicants should take the psychological and physical forms to their respective doctors (Doctors must mail these forms directly from their offices).

After completing the application form, the applicant should return it to the Pennsylvania State Police, along with the application fee and photographs (with the exact specifications as requested on the application form). Upon return of this application, you will be fingerprinted by the Pennsylvania State Police, and your application will be sent to the Lethal Weapons Commission for approval. All applicants must be at least eighteen years of age.

Classes are usually scheduled for the fall and spring (October and April). To be put on our mailing list for the next class, please complete the on-line Information Request Form or contact the Criminal Justice Training Center by calling 800-303-2752 and proceed with the above application process with the Pennsylvania State Police. Registration material will be sent to you when the next class is available. See the Lethal Weapons website for additional information.
