Pennsylvania State System Consortium Leadership Institute Award

The following is information for the selected recipients of the Pennsylvania State System Women’s Consortium Undergraduate Leadership Award. The expenses for the selected recipients are paid for by IUP (lodging, meals, educational materials, etc.).


  • Develop and strengthen women’s leadership skills, creativity, and respect for diversity.
  • Establish a network of women throughout the State System and promote existing networks of women at each of the 14 universities.
  • Encourage mentoring relationships among women in the State System.
  • Provide for informal learning opportunities for students to interact with faculty members, staff, and administrators.
  • Expand their understanding of women's issues and the potential for women's leadership;
  • Help students develop campus projects to practice skills learned at the institute under the direction of a mentor on their campus.

Student participant cost is provided by the President’s Commission on the Status of Women. These costs include lodging, meals, and educational materials. Participants are responsible for transportation to and from the institute, as well as personal expenses incurred during the week.
