The IUP Geography and Regional Planning Department offers one degree program: the Master of Science (M.S.) in Geography.
The Master of Science program includes a 15-credit track in GIS/Cartography, Regional Planning, or Environmental Planning. The M.S. program requires a 9-credit core and includes options for electives and internships. This program can also be completed as either thesis or non-thesis options, with preparation of a nongraded portfolio included in the non-thesis option. Graduates are employed by state and federal governments; city, county, and regional planning commissions; private consulting and engineering firms; business and industry; and educational institutions.
