Effective January 1, 2013, the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (MetLife) will be replacing the Prudential Life Insurance Company of America as the provider of your Basic Group Term Life and Work-Related Accidental Death Insurance coverages and will assume the responsibility of administering your life insurance records through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Group Life Program.
There will be no change to your Basic Life and Work-Related Accidental Death coverages which are fully paid by the university as the result of this change. MetLife is working with the Commonwealth to have your current beneficiary designation(s) transferred from Prudential Life Insurance Company of North America to MetLife. Beginning in January 2013, you will be able to review and update your beneficiary designation online or by contacting a MetLife customer service representative.
New Group Life Insurance Summaries and Booklets as well as Beneficiary Designation/Change forms were expected to be available in January 2013 but have been delayed until February 2013.
