What do I do when the projector will not turn On or Off?

If you have a projector remote, try using it to power the projector On/Off. If this does not work, then the projector power switch will need to be reset.  To do this, you must physically turn the power switch off and back on.  This switch is located on the back of the projector.

If you do not have a projector remote and you are unable to reach the power switch on the projector, please contact your College Technology Manager for assistance. If you are still unable to power on the unit, then the bulb may need replaced.

What should I do when the projector image is very dim or dark?

Turn off any unnecessary lighting sources and close any open blinds. If this still does not improve picture quality then the bulb may need to be replaced.  Please contact your College Technology Manager.

What should I do if the image on the screen appears blurry?

Turn off any unnecessary lighting sources and close any open blinds. If this still does not improve picture quality then the projector may need focused.  Please contact your College Technology Manager.

What should I do when I am unable to control the equipment or the software interface does not appear to be responding?

Using the On/Off switch directly on the projector, turn the power off and then back on.  Please contact your College Technology Manager for assistance.

How do I use my laptop in a multimedia classroom?

To connect a laptop to the projector:

  1. Connect the laptop using a 15 pin projector cable to the connector labeled Laptop on the left side of the multimedia cabinet.
  2. If audio output from the laptop is needed, connect the sound cable.
  3. On the Class Room Control screen, click on the Laptop button.
  4. On some laptops you may need to press Function F8 to toggle the use of the rear video output connector.  If this does not work, reboot the laptop after you have connected the necessary cables.

What do I do if I can not log into the computer or it is malfunctioning?

Please contact your College Technology Manager as troubleshooting may be required.

I am receiving a blue screen/ “no signal” message on the projection screen. How do I fix this?

Ensure that the power switch on the rack is turned on (large red rocker switch glows red when on).   Also insure that you have selected the correct input source from the media equipment software control panel. i.e. “DVD”, "VCR", "Laptop", etc.

What should I do when I can't hear any sound or the sound is not balanced and/or is too loud/soft?

Ensure that the power switch on the rack is turned on (large red rocker switch glows red when on). Next, check that the power to the amplifier is turned on. This is the unit in the very bottom of the rack. Next, check that both volume knobs are turned to 9 o’clock. Select the appropriate device and turn up volume from projector control software interface on the PC. If you are trying to get sound from the PC also ensure that the PC audio is not muted.

Why won't my DVD disc or audio CD play in the DVD player?

Try another DVD.  The disc may be either dirty, damaged, or not a compatible media type to be used in the DVD player.

Why won't my VHS cassette play in the VCR?

Try another VHS tape first.  The VHS tape is probably either dirty or damaged.  If the quality does not improve, the VCR may need to be cleaned or replaced.

Why won't my VHS cassette eject?

It is mostly likely jammed or the VCR is defective.

Use your fingers to hold the VCR door open and press the eject button. As the tape begins to eject, slowly remove your hand and guide the tape out. Please notify your College Technology Manager so that the unit can be repaired/replaced.

Why won't the buttons on the VCR/DVD player work?

The player is probably defective or in need of repair.

You can temporarily control the unit with the supplied remote control (usually placed in the podium). Please notify your College Technology Manager so that the unit can be repaired or replaced.

Why is the screen black or blank when I try to use the Document Camera?

This can be caused by a couple of reasons.  First insure that the power is turned on.  The power switch can be found on the left side of the unit.  Next check that the lens cap has been removed and turn on the side lights to see if an image appears. If the image still fails to appear, turn the unit off and back on again. If you see a white image that fades to black within 10 – 15 seconds then the Doc Cam is most likely defective and will need to be replaced.  Please notify your College Technology Manager so that the unit can be repaired or replaced.

What should I do if the focus, tint, contrast, or exposure appear incorrect?

Rotate each knob on Doc Cam control panel to 12 noon and set all modes to auto adjust.
