The Endnote: Submissions

  • Each submission must be a valid piece of research writing related to the history field, with all references footnoted in proper Chicago/Turabian style.
  • An electronic copy of the manuscript should be submitted to the editor-in-chief via e-mail attachment to, with a subject denoting the submission.
  • Paper copies will be accepted to accommodate all levels of technological expertise, but all other submission guidelines must be followed, and contact will still take place via e-mail correspondence.
  • Manuscript submission should be one of two formats: traditional research work, or opinion/editorial pieces supported by citations.
  • Manuscripts should be formatted in Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or a RichText format to facilitate straightforward review and editorial suggestions.
  • Manuscripts (including endnotes) should be prepared in double-spaced typescript, in accordance with Chicago/Turabian formatting.
  • The manuscript should be no longer than 5,000 words for undergraduate students and no longer than 7,500 words for graduate students.

  • Because the submissions will be reviewed anonymously, names should appear on the title page only, but standard numbering of pages should be retained.
  • There must be an e-mail address for contact submitted with the manuscript as well.
  • Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Please consult IUP’s policy on plagiarism if you have any questions or concerns.
