Department of History
Are you seeking employment in non-teaching fields, including careers in museum, archival, library work, public policy, or tourism and travel? Or, do you want to pursue a career in the public sector or community education. The IUP History graduate program is designed to provide students with training appropriate to a wide range of professional goals.
Prepare for professional positions in the public sector, including publishing and research or public and community education. Choose from concentrations in American and/or European history, and experience courses that combine conventional history with research.

The IUP History program provides you with a comprehensive education, combining history with research and internships. This program is flexible and gives you the option to take either a traditional or public history concentration.
Our History program also offers a thesis and non-thesis option depending on what career path you want to pursue. This program is designed to provide the training appropriate to a wide range of professional goals in the field of history.
