Dr. Neusius is an archaeologist and the chair of the Department of Anthropology.

Dr. Phil Neusius

His research interests focus on North American prehistory. He has conducted field work extensively throughout the United States, including the Northeast, Midwest, Southwest, and Great Plains. He is also very active in cultural resource management and historic preservation. As the founder of Archaeological Services, he brought numerous applied research projects to campus, providing practical experience for undergraduate students. Current research projects include Late Prehistoric and Protohistoric adaptations along Lake Erie (with Dr. Sarah Neusius and the New York State Museum); Early Archaic Occupations in northwestern Pennsylvania; and the transition to farming in central Pennsylvania. He teaches Basic Archaeology, World Archaeology, and Archaeological Theory.
