Additionally, all applicants must also submit to the graduate school the following for review by the doctoral program committee:
- Recent GRE score (including analytical writing)
- Official higher education transcripts (undergraduate and graduate)
- Current curriculum vitae
- Writing sample: a sample that reflects your ability to do academic work and research such as a published work, a paper presented at a professional conference, a major paper for a graduate level course or other academic writing;
- Two letters of recommendation assessing your ability to work at the doctoral level
- Production portfolio: This is completely optional and will not impact the review committee’s decision for admission into the program. Its purpose is to determine your placement in appropriate production courses. Either bring it to your on campus interview or submit it to your advisor after you have been accepted to the program.
- Professional goal statement addressing why you are interested in pursuing doctoral studies in this area, your long-term professional goals, and preparations you are undertaking in anticipation of acceptance into the program.
The doctoral program committee will review completed application files on November 15, January 15, March 15, and July 1. After July 1, files will be reviewed as needed until the cohort for the upcoming fall is filled. Applicants should keep these dates in mind when preparing application materials. Upon review of a completed file, the doctoral program committee may invite the applicant to campus for an interview. The committee determines whether to accept, waitlist, or deny each applicant.
