Italian course offerings at IUP include a four-semester sequence in language. Students needing to complete the language requirement will complete either three or four semesters according to their college’s specifications. Students who are interested in learning Italian purely for personal growth are certainly welcome! Speaking and listening skills are emphasized during the first two semesters, and writing and reading skills are developed during the third and fourth semesters.

Circolo Italiano is the name of the IUP Italian Club. The club meets every two weeks for social activities based on interest in the culture of Italy. Look for announcements on the bulletin board outside of room 213 in Eberly Hall or on the fourth floor of Sutton Hall. New members from all majors are welcome; no speaking ability is required, only interest in la dolce vita!

Tutors for Italian courses are available most semesters. Native speaker students here completing a B.A. or business degree often tutor IUP students learning Italian. Information is available in Sutton Hall, room 454.

I am also the editor of the French and German Department newsletter. To receive a copy of our newsletter and to find out what our alumni have been doing, or to submit your own information for publication, write me at wallaert@iup.edu.
