The Faculty of the Counseling Department have set the following goals for 2003-2004 academic year:
Goal 1 – Tending our individual and collective wagons!
Goal 2 - Enrollment and Scheduling
1. Maintain 6 cohorts (3 school & 3 community) for Pittsburgh.
2. Review sequence of courses for Pgh. Programs.
3. Revise “tri-semester schedule” for CACREP.
4. Utilize additional complement… (Dr. Utay’s vacant position, unfilled position) to create electives for licensure & current students, which would increase credit hour production.
5. Work with Grad. School to ensure high quality applicant pools.
Goal 3 - Curriculum
1. Complete COUN 737 & COUN 674 curriculum proposals.
2. Submit curriculum proposals (CACREP) in early fall.
3. Tri-semester schedule committee needs to meet and revise the schedule to address CACREP requirements.
4. Doc Program – distribute needs assessment to alumni, agencies, current students re: justification for launching.
5. Write Notification of Intent in the Fall.
6. Full curriculum review – complete packet of syllabi of record
7. Advising workshop (recommend) for all dept. faculty.

Goal 4 - In-Service and Professional Development Outreach
1. To offer a Dept.-only, two-day “Conflict Resolution” training through the Pittsburgh Mediation Center (approximate cost $3200).
2. To initiate the service component of CCTS:
- Compile workshop templates from faculty
- Post workshop description on CCTS website
- Distribute brochures to area districts and agencies
3. Convene advisory board.
4. Apply for grants
5. Determine the feasibility of WPIC videoconference series.
6. Other possible topics workshops: AIDS
7. Possible co-sponsorship of Alleghany School Counselors Association meeting.
8. 1/07 School Coun Prof Dev Day.
9. Teen Screen Site (?)
10. Help undergrad dept. to work with school counselors to enhance university enrollment
Goal 5 - Enhancement of the Monroeville Program
1. With Paula Sandusky, develop expanded recruitment efforts, particularly for M.A. program.
2. Identify & communicate with Cont. Ed. Faculty problems that impact faculty & students (i.e., telephones, speakers for faculty computers, mail, blinds in counseling rooms, access to 9th Floor).
3. Explore opportunities with CCAC and other agencies for practicum collaboration.
4. Identify a space to create a dept. library, including space, check-out, ordering books).
5. Appoint a “point person” to serve as field placement coordinator for Monroeville/Pittsburgh.
6. Explore with students, the development of CESA.
Goal 6 - Clinical Space
Penn Center East
1. Follow up on technology fee grant status for Monroeville facility ($80,000).
2. Follow up and/or generate additional funds needed for faculty in Monroeville.
3. Once fees are acquired, work for installation of equipment in Monroeville.
4. Assess current equipment needs in Monroeville & solve any short term issues.
Campus
1. Investigate needs & potential funding for more Landros on campus.

Continue to utilize a committee made up of all the instructors for clinical classes for a semester & more faculty interested in conducting research using the DCTF to make decisions regarding usage.
Goal 7 - PDE/NCATE Review
Goal 8 - Advisory Board
1. Ongoing recruitment, particularly MA, & rotation of board terms. (also Monroeville)
2. Address ongoing logistic & communication problems (i.e., listserv; notes, etc.)
3. Have board give ongoing departmental feedback (i.e. newsletter).
4. Resolve issue of Act 48 or CEU for participation.
5. Report back results of CACREPT survey to the board.
Goal 9 – Faculty Professional Development
1. Modify faculty professional development activities in a way that becomes more flexible and responsive to faculty needs. This could include:
A) Providing Optional CCTS department offerings solely for faculty and possibly students,
B) Providing optional CCTS workshops,
C) Responding to faculty needs that emerge during the year.
Goal 10 – Program Recognition-Public Relations
1. Build collaborative relationships with local agencies.
2. Dissemination of initiatives … such as digital training lab.
3. Continue newsletter to students and alumni.
4. Continue faculty involvement in local, state, regional, national and international conferences.
