Parents of Transfer Students

Congratulations on your student’s acceptance to Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP)!

We believe that pursuing a four-year degree from IUP will be an exciting experience for your student. To include you in this excitement, we have developed a Parent and Family Orientation program to help you better understand you son or daughter’s transition to IUP, become acquainted with our campus, and learn about its resources. We would like to invite you to this orientation program designed especially for parents and family members of transfer students that runs simultaneously with the Summer Transfer Orientation program.

Fees for the Program Include:

Some of the Featured Topics in the Parent and Family Program include:

  • Academic programs and policies
  • University costs, financial aid, and payment plans
  • Residential life and dining information
  • Tour of the residence hall facilities

The document IUP Transfer Parent and Family Orientation Process 2014 provides greater detail about our programs, related fees, and outlines the step you will take to register for Orientation. Your student will receive a separate mailing with instructions for enrolling for the student orientation. Please note that their letter constitutes and invitation to the program, not automatic enrollment. The should enroll for Transfer Student Orientation, as directed in their letter. You may enroll in the Parent and family Orientation program after your student has enrolled int he the student program.

Enroll for your Transfer Parent and Family Orientation here. You will be directed to an online service where you will complete your enrollment form and make payment for your visit. We accept E-Check, MasterCard, Discover, VISA, or American Express for payment.

As you register, please be aware that the parent and student programs are intentionally planned to be separate throughout the day. Our office believes that it is important to introduce students to their new environment through interaction with trained peers, staff, and faculty. In a sense, this provides the first “controlled” entry into the academic environment where students must make decision in concert with advisers and seek and utilize decentralized resources. The parent program helps you identify resources that may be of use to your student after beginning IUP.

Because you will play such an important role in the adjustment of your student to college life, we sincerely hope that you will join us for the Transfer Orientation program for parents and family members. If you have questions or concerns, you can call us at 724-357-4067 [Voice/T/D] between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or e-mail us at

Welcome to the IUP family, and we look forward to meeting you!
