Pre-Engineering - Dual Degree Programs

Pre-Engrng Physics

The Department of Physics offers a pre-engineering program for students who are more interested in the applications of scientific principles than in the study of the principles themselves.

The IUP Physics Department has an articulation agreement with three Pennsylvania engineering schools. Pre-engineering students leave the department after two or three years to attend Drexel University, the University of Pittsburgh, or Penn State. After completing the required courses with a minimum QPA, the student's transfer to one of the above engineering programs is guaranteed.

If a student chooses to not attend one of the above schools, IUP's pre-engineering students have successfully completed studies in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, nuclear engineering, and electrical engineering at several engineering schools throughout the country.

Once the student has completed enough credits at the engineering school, credits are transferred back to IUP and the student earns a B.S. in Physics.

For more information about course requirements see the Pre-engineering Cooperatives section in the undergraduate course catalog.
