The Department of Physics offers a pre-engineering program for students who are more interested in the applications of scientific principles than in the study of the principles themselves.
Pre-engineering students leave the department after two or three years to attend Drexel University or the University of Pittsburgh. IUP's pre-engineering students have successfully completed studies in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, nuclear engineering, and electrical engineering at several engineering schools throughout the country.
