René Fetchkan, 2008–2009 Spring Semester
René Fetchkan has been a certified school psychologist for twenty years, having received her master’s degree and School Psychology certification from IUP. She has returned to her studies and is currently a doctoral student at IUP while also working for the ARIN Intermediate Unit providing school psychological services to schools in Indiana County. René has had many work experiences across the state, working in at least seven different positions and having district responsibilities for counseling, assessment, and coordination of special educations programs. René currently serves the profession as an executive board member of both the Association of School Psychologists of Pennsylvania (ASPP) and the Department of Pupil Services of the Pennsylvania State Education Association (DPS/PSEA), and she serves as president of the School PSychologists Section in DPS/PSEA. Of all her current activities, she is enjoying most her students and the teaching in her section of Educational Psychology.
Angela McMasters, 2008–2009 Fall Semester
Angela has been a nationally certified school psychologist for four years. She received her master’s degree and School Psychology certification from IUP. Angela is currently a doctoral student at IUP while also providing school psychological services to students in the Armstrong School District (ASD). She has presented at local, state, and national conferences on topics such as student motivation, functional behavioral assessment, data-based decision making, assessment of student learning, and bullying. Angela’s various district responsibilities include consultation with parents and teachers, counseling, assessment, data-based decision making and accountability, school-wide positive behavior support, and the ongoing implementation of RtI. Additionally, Angela is actively involved in a parent group at ASD that focuses on collaborating with parents of students with disabilities regarding current issues and trends in special education. She enjoys working with her students and providing them with educational experiences that will lead to their success in the future.
