International students are reviewed for financial assistance (Partial Tuition Waiver) after being accepted to Indiana University of Pennsylvania. All international students seeking a degree are automatically considered for Partial Tuition Waiver (PTW). There is no additional application form. If students are awarded a PTW, the amount of funding will be reflected on the immigration documents (I-20 or DS-2019) and an official PTW letter will be included in the student’s acceptance package.

Partial Tuition Waivers are allocated to international students based on financial need. International students awarded a PTW for the Academic Year 2009–2010 receive the following amount of money per each academic semester (Fall and Spring):

For 2009–2010, new international students awarded a PTW will receive the following amount of money per each academic semester (Fall and Spring):

  • Undergraduate: $2,000
  • Second Degree: $1,500
  • Graduate: $1,000
  • Intercollegiate athletes, international Honors College students: waived to in-state tuition rate

Maintaining a Partial Tuition Waiver

To maintain a PTW, students must complete thirty hours of unpaid, volunteer service. Students receive ten service hours by actively participating in major Fall and Spring events, International Education Week, and Unity Day. Details of these events and the participation requirements will be provided in the One World newsletter.

Service hours must be officially reported by supervisors via e-mail or a letter to the International Education Office. To guarantee that students will continue to receive the PTW, service hours must be reported by the following deadlines:

  • Fall Hours: First Friday of December
  • Spring Hours: First Friday of May
  • Summer Hours: Second Friday of August

PTW students interested in taking summer classes need to complete a summer application.
